Windows 10: I can't make my c drive bigger because the D drive is on another disk it says even tho i...

I can't make my c drive bigger. I want to install a windows update but i can't because the disk space is too small andd i cant make it bigger because it says its on another drive. Can someone help me i have no idea what im doing.

What to do if Disk drive D is renamed to Disk drive F but Disk Drive D says "removeable" or "Eject"?

I'm not saying this is the solution to fix your Hard drives. Most likely you have HDD is corrupted. But, if you that your drive is healthy than don't panic. I'm no computer engineer so forgive me if I get something wrong. In that case, point it out and give out a better explanation.

This problem happen to me today and from what I saw, my pc change the pathway from Disk (D to Disk (F

- Hit the windows key and type down "Disk management".
~ It should open up and show you a list of Disk (ex: Disk 0, Disk 1, Disk 3, etc)



- Look for a disk that says "Removeable". (In this case lets say "Disk 3 Removeable (D"
~ right click on Disk 3 and click on "Change Drive Letter and Paths..."

- On that window that opened, click on "Change"

~ Another window should pop out and gives you the option to change the Lettering.

- Change it to your desire letter
~ So we click on a different letter either than D ( so lets say we change D to A) than hit OK

- Than change the original disk Letter to D

~ Restart PC

If this works, you should see icons from that drive appearing or programs could finally open up that was on the drive. I hope this works for you.

 

how to merge c drive and d drive

It depends on a couple things.

If you have two separate physical C and D drives, you can't merge them.

If the D drive is a partition (not a drive) and its to the right of C:\ in Disk Management, you can right click C:\ then click Extend.

Press Windows key + X

Click Disk Management

Take a screenshot then post in a reply here.

If the layout is similar to how I described it, try the following. Make sure important data is backed up if there is any.

Select the D:\ partition

Right click the ‘D:\’ in Disk Management, on the contextual menu, click the ‘Delete Volume’ option. Click ‘Yes’ when the warning dialog appears.

The Volume you deleted will now appear as ‘Free space’, you will also notice that the disk icon no longer appears in the list of volumes.

Right click the Free space partition, and click Delete, click Yes on the Disk Management warning that appears.

The volume will now appear as Unallocated. Our next step is to merge back that unallocated free space with the system partition (C:\). Right click the System volume and click the ‘Extend Volume’ option on the contextual menu, click ‘Yes’ when the warning appears.

A wizard will now begin that will guide through the steps to merge back the unallocated space with your system partition.

The wizard provides a simple procedure to merge back the unallocated space with the system drive. Once you have selected the space, click Next, at the end of the wizard, you will see the amount allocated.
