Windows 10: I can't manage background apps on windows 11

The last few weeks I've been having trouble with most apps not detecting my microphones and not being able to have certain apps/games run in the background. Every video I've seen tells me to go to the Microsoft website to find a different way but has not been effective at dealing with my problems. I have looked into task manager, setting under apps-installed apps-advanced options.... and under battery and apps that are running and using battery neither of those solutions specifically work because I don't see "background apps" or apps using my battery. So, my question is, is it a windows 11

Apps only run as background pocesses

To manage background apps in Windows 10, you can follow these steps:

• Go to Start menu and select Settings.
• Click on Privacy on the Settings window.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select Background apps.
• You’ll see a list of apps that have permission to run in the background with an
  On/Off toggle.

Windows 11 Background Apps Problem

Meanwhile follow the steps below how to locate Background apps permission:

1. Open settings under Start Menu
   
2. Open Settings then on the left side click Apps
   
3. Select Apps & Features then you need to select a specific Background App (ex. Alarm & Clock/ Calculator)
   
4. Click the 3 Dots on the right then select Advance Options
   

From there you will locate the Background apps permission feature and you have 3 options to Let this app run in background:

• Always
  
• Power optimized (recommended
  
• Never

Windows Spotlight/Background Apps

Hi, have you ever removed Edge?

Sometimes this might happen because there's a MS server issue. However, what you say above suggests something else may be amiss. N.B. after resetting Spotlight as Bree suggests, it may take several days (in my experience) before it starts working again. Please post a screenshot like this:
