Windows 10: I cant open certain files or apps. Seems like loss of permissions

Whenever I try to open certain apps they fail to start and within a couple of minutes send an error message stating "Windows cannot access the specified device, Path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions" Some solutions tell me to change the properties of the file but when I do it often freezes and crashes or tells me to contact the system administrator I am the only user. some apps work as normal but many others do not. Even the task manager has the same issue and doesn't allow me to run it. I am yet to find a solution, any help would be appreciated.

How to change default app to open certain file types.

It's not as simple as it seems
Although it's easy as pie to change default apps by type file, but how to do it if I want to use app that's not on the default Window list?
Like in this example,



File is opened by IE but I have installed in my system programme called Notepad++ and I want it to open .xml files whenever i double click on them. But Notepad++ is not on the Windows list



So how to set this up to open .xml files with Notepad++?

Some apps require certain permissions to work properly. However, you can change the permissions given to the apps by following the below steps:

1. Click on Start.
   
2. Click on Settings and then click on Privacy.
   
3. Under the App Permissions you can change the permissions which are assigned for the apps.
   

However, you can go through the
Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
