I have opened ports 8000, 9000, 9001, 9002, and 9003 in inbound Windows Defender Firewall by steps but not work: Right-click the Start button.Click Search.Type Windows Firewall.Click Windows Firewall.Click Advanced settings.Click Inbound Rules in the left frame of the window.Click New Rule… in the right frame of the window.Click either TCP or UDP.Click Specific local ports.Type a port number. In this case, we will open port 1707.Click Next.Click Allow the connection.Click Next.Chose all network types&nb

    Port 9001 is not available

    Hi Thanatica,

My name is Carl and I am an independent Windows 10 advisor.

I would suggest trying the following:

Click Start then type 'Command Prompt' and open that.

    Type:

    netstat -ano -p tcp |find "9001"

The above should list all processes using port 9001. At the end column there should be a number - this is the Process ID (PID)

You can then use the following command, still at the Command Prompt, to find which application is using the port

    tasklist |find "PID_Number_Here"

If you can then come back to us with what application or screenshots then we can further assist.

    Kind regards,

    Carl.

    Port 9001 is not available

I have to run some development server on port 9001, but 9001 is in use by the SYSTEM process. How can I make it stop doing that? This has started happening since yesterday, and I have completely shut down and freshly booted up my laptop in between then and
    today.

Even with something like Process Hacker I cannot figure out which process (other than SYSTEM) is responsible for keeping this port open. Also when I open it in my browser, e.g. http://localhost:9001/, I just get a 404. Diving into its HTTP Response headers,
I see the Server header is set to "Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0". That is NOT something I started, so it must be a system thing (which, strictly speaking, it is).

How do I free up this port?
