Windows 10: I cant rearrange the order of my photos inside a folder. I used to be able to slide one...

I can't rearrange the order of my photos inside a folder. I used to be able to drag one picture between others to change the order but not any more.Now when I try to drag a picture a box shape icon appears but I cannot move the picture.

How to rearrange photos so they print in a particular order?

Microsoft Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.19043 Build 19043

In the Photos app, I can rearrange photos for a video using the storyboard in the Photos app. This works by drag-and-drop.

What I would like to do is similar to that storyboard but I want to print the photos say 6 or 8 to a page but in the same order they are on the Photos storyboard.

Any suggestions on how to do this?

Hi Greg, thank you for the links to the tutorials.. unfortunately none of these links give any insight into how to rearrange photos in a folder in any other way other than chronological or alphabetic sorting.. I'm not really willing to be playing with
the registry to attempt to open up an older Windows photo viewer unless I can be sure that a) I'm going to be able to solve the problem and b) be sure that I will not negatively affect operation of the Windows 10 photo app... I would be happy enough to use
another program, but whatever program I use, I do want to be able to easily rearrange the photos in a folder.. whether through changing the file names to match the order or any other means that the Windows file explorer understands..

If you are using the OneDrive Desktop App, we suggest you to try it on OneDrive.com, and follow the steps below to rearrange your files:

• Browse to the folder with the files or photos you want to rearrange.
• Tap or click Sort, and then choose Rearrange.
• If prompted, install Microsoft Silverlight.
• Arrange the files or photos by dragging them in the order you want them to appear.
• Tap or click Save sort order.
