Windows 10: I can't record guitar on my microphone, it only picks up my voice.

I'm trying to record a song on my laptop but the microphone only picks up my voice. I strummed my guitar and sang at the same time and when I played it back I could only hear my voice, it's like it's filtering it out. I turned off audio enhancements on the microphone settings but it didn't help. I'm not using any fancy microphones, just the one that came with my laptop.

Microphone is not recording anything but voice.

Since the latest Windows updates, my computer refuses to record anything except voice: guitar, clicks right next to the microphone, claps, anything. I have tried uninistalling updates, installing more recent ones, but nothing has helped. Earlier today I recorded a track with guitar and voice at the same time, and now, later the same day, my computer can't seem to handle that. I assume it's some kind of in-built noise reduction but I can't find any evidence of that or option to turn it off.

No matter what microphone I use (USB mic or in-built) or application (Audacity or standard Windows Sound Recorder) he issue persists. I even had a support technician try to help me remotely to no avail. I've installed new drivers for all my microphones that I can as well, no dice.

If someone can give me an easy fix to this, or tell me that there is an option to turn off whatever this is, I would be hugely grateful. I bought my computer in part due to ability to record sound, so this is huge for me and is really driving me up the wall!

when I try to record guitar it gets muffled

Whenever I try to use a usb device(e.g. microphone, webcam) to record my guitar it muffles and distorts the sound, when i record my voice it comes out perfectly fine, but when I try to record my guitar, or any music for that matter it muffles and quietens

I dont know if its a problem specific to the devices I use but i'll state them anyway:

I face this problem when trying to use a USB device such as a microphone or a webcam to record the sound of my guitar. The sound is getting muffled in this case but if I start recording my voice, everything is perfectly well. I use blue sowball ice
