Windows 10: I can't reduce the size of a partition in Windows 11.

I want to make a partition on my disk that has about 250 GB of free space smaller. However, this process is being prevented by a file located near the end of the volume. This file is called an NTFS file system file, and it blocks the movement of the partition boundary. Specifically, the file causing the problem is “Cluster 0x00000000064bc4f3 used by -S--S \$Mft::$BITMAP”. What can I do?

Windows 11 Taskbar icons - how to reduce size to same as Windows 10

• Just updated from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11.
  
• The taskbar icons are TWICE the size of the taskbar icons in Windows 10
  
• Nothing in settings to reduce the size.
  
• Googled and apparently I'm not the only one not happy that the small taskbar icons in Windows 10 have been removed in Windows 11
  
• Is Microsoft going to reinstate the small taskbar icons?
  

If the small taskbar icons, as in Windows 10, aren't going to be reinstated - Can I roll back from Windows 11 to Windows 10 Pro (note Windows 10 PRO)?

Partition Sizes?

My new system has 2 150 g Raptors in Raid0. I normally keep the O/S on one partition, installed applications on another, and my paging file on another partition. With a volume size of 300 gigs, what would you suggest as far as partition sizes are concerned?

Reduce disk size (Inspect SCSI )

Hi, I'm David an independent advisor and user just like you. I'll do my best to help you with this.

The answer is you have to reduce the size on BOTH sides.

Step 1) Within you virtual machine you need to go to Disk Management and reduce the size of the partition(s) on the drive you want to reduce - you want to end up with space left at the "end" of the virtual disk. This is the space you'll be able to recover.

Step 2) From your Hyper-V host you need to edit the virtual disk and use the Shrink option to reduce the size of the physical disk (as far as your VM is concerned it's a physical disk), and that would reduce the size of your virtual disk file on the host.

If you are increasing the size of the virtual disk then you do it the other way round - increase the size of the virtual disk on Hyper-V, then go to Disk Management inside your virtual machine and you'll find there's more space available to expand your virtual
volume.
