Windows 10: I can’t reinstall Windows at all!

Yesterday my PC shit the bed for seemingly no reason. It froze during a restart and when I turned it back on Windows would not load. In the attempt to fix it things got a lot worse I had to resort to reinstalling.

But when I try to install from my Windows 10 disk, I get the error “Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected for installation. (0x80070057)”

I tried deleting all partitions both in the installation menu and through the DISKPART command, but the same thing happens every time. If I try and format the drive first I get the error “we couldn’t format the selected partition.”

I have no idea what’s happening, I’ve run chkdsk several times before resorting to formatting which is what seemed to make it worse in the first place. Now the drive is listed as RAW so I can’t run it. None of the repair Windows options have done anything. I don’t know where to go from here, anyone know what it might be? Thanks.

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Reinstall Windows?

You don't need to reinstall windows. Go to the device manager and remove uninstall the processor and motherboard drivers listed. When you start the system back up you should be able to re-install the new ones. I just changed my mobo/processor Friday, everything is fine.

BTW I have seen some reviews that state practically no difference in using more than 2gb of ram.
