Windows 10: I can't remove my son's account from my family group so we can join my wife's family group....

My son and I are the only family members on my account. I created the family group without the knowledge that my wife had already created a group for her and my other 2 children. When I tried to remove my family group so that we could join my wife's family group, it will not allow me to remove my son from my family group giving the message : You can't remove Owen from the family group Family members under statutory age need an adult's consent to join a family group. Only the adult that granted consent for Owen can remove this family member. Ask the family organizer who granted Owen consent t

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

In all honesty, we would suggest that the fastest solution for you would be to re-register for a Microsoft account and then join your daughter's family group. That way you can get up and running with MICROSOFT365 as soon as possible.

Back to the family group issue, if you are the organizer of another family group, it would be a good idea to notify the other members of the group that the group needs to be disbanded, and then delete the other members in turn from the main family account screen. Finally, dissolve the family group.

If you are a member of a family, but not the organizer, you can leave the family group if you are an adult account, or if you are a minor, you will need to be removed from the family group by your organizer.

So, frankly speaking the family group feature is not perfect at the moment and sometimes the above steps may not be possible due to server logic. You may want to sign up for a new Microsoft account and wait until the family group feature is stabilized before joining your daughter's family group with your original account.

My Son is in a wrong Family Groupe

My son is in a wrong Family Groupe.

We don´t know the Family Administrator of this wrong Groupe and he does not answer an my request do "release" my son out of his family.

How can I get him out of this family groupe? I have read all faqs an chatted already with the 365 Office support. They postponed me to this community.

 

Problem adding my son to my family group

Hi,

I want to set up my son on Minecraft and am facing a problem with adding him to my family group in order to manage permissions.

I have sent an invitation to his Outlook account to join my family group. When he tries joining the family group using the link in the invitation, he gets a message saying he is already part of another family group which he must first leave.

However when I look at which family group he's part of, I can't find any. On the Outlook home page when I use the left hand menu to look at which groups he's part of, it says "you have not joined any groups yet".

So- in short, I'm stuck.
