Windows 10: I can't seem to save anything to my desktop...when I drag it to the desktop or do file...

I follow the advice on another thread on making the "save to computer" the default but when I wanted to choose a place i clicked on DESKTOP and a message came up "no moniker for desktop" When I right click a file to see the properties the location is always C:\onedrive\holly\desktop shouldn't it be C:\desktop? This is a new computer using windows 10 in teh past the location path of anything on my desktop was always C:\desktop i know that the holly comes from me as owner but the onedrive first makes me think somehow i put the desktop into onedrive and now it doesn't exist separately? Thanks for any help

• Does this happen when you try dragging all apps to the desktop, or just a specific app?

• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

As an initial recommendation, we suggest following these steps as a workaround:

• Right-click on any empty part of the desktop.
• Click New > Shortcut.
  
• Navigate to the folder location of the app you want and select it.
• Click OK.

• How are you trying to add the favorites to desktop?

I suggest you to try the below steps to save the favorites on desktop and check if it helps.

• Open the Internet Explorer and minimize the screen.
• Then go to the favorites tab and then drag any favorites that you have saved to the desktop.
• Once you get the favorites items \ folders then you can open the favorites and check if it is opening.

Your suggestion does not work. It did work on Windows 7.
