I set up an account in my PC using a Microsoft Account. When I activated Remote Desktop and tried to access the PC remotely, I was not able to login using my Microsoft Account credentials. Please advise.

How to remove "HP Connected Remote" as a sign in account ?

    Hi Dave,

Thank you for writing your query in Microsoft Community.

    • Is your computer connected to a domain network?
HP Connected Remote is an app that comes preinstalled on select Windows HP computers. I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it resolves this issue.

    • On the Windows 10 Start screen, type hp connected remote.
    • Click HP Connected Remote from the Apps search results.
    • Click Settings, and make sure Enable HP Connected Remote is turned On.

Reply us back with the status of this issue. We will be glad to assist you.

  3. Remote desktop connection problem

    Hello, Mara,

I appreciate your help. But it was not working.

I am using the windows 10 professional version, which has preinstalled remote desktop connection.

But the same problem persists. So kindly suggest some other methods.

For more clarity, I am stating my problem another time. The steps I follow are as follows.

Aim: I want to access PC1 using PC2 remotely.

    1. I noted down the IP address of my PC1.
    2. Now, I open the remote desktop connection app in PC2.
    3. Entered the IP address, User name, and password.
    4. After that, PC1 gets locked, and in PC2, a page comes which has the following information. (Normally, it should show the sign-in prompt to access the PC1 exactly as in PC1 )
      • At the top, a bar came which can be used for minimization, cancel, etc.
      • At the left bottom, the power button shows. I can sleep, shut down, disconnect, or sign out by using that.
      • In the middle, a mouse pointer shows.
      • Other than that no sign-in prompt. By clicking the mouse, no response. Also, clicking enter does not help.
      • It's like the "connected locked PC1 ". It means it is connected but can't be used.

I can't sign in using my Microsoft Account when connecting via Remote Desktop

Remote desktop not working with microsoft account

Hey glad you asked, this question is somewhat rare but does come up occasionally and I decided to write about the solution here: Remote Desktop with Microsoft Account Sign-In

In a nutshell, you can fix it by doing this on the remote system you want to connect to.

    1. Right-click Start button, choose Run
    2. Type in the command below, but use your Microsoft Account email address instead of the example:

      runas /u:MicrosoftAccount\username@example.com winver

    3. Provide your Microsoft Account password when prompted. After you press Enter, the "WinVer" program will launch, informing you about what version of Windows you have (you can close it, you're done at this point).
Now you should be able to connect to this system without an issue (assuming, of course, the system is a "Windows 10 Pro" version).

The blog post I linked to has some more background, but this is really all there is to the trick of getting the credentials fixed.
