Windows 10: I can't turn on my location service because it's greyed out.

I recently discovered that my location service was turned off and that I could not turn it on. I have looked at my geolocation setting, and it's set to automatic. I've searched for possible fixes, but none have worked. Hoping someone can help me.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused for you, I suggest you to try the below troubleshooting steps and check If it helps.

Step 1: Steps to turn on the Location settings.

• Login as an administrator.
• Press Windows key, type Location settings and select
  Change location settings.
• Check whether Location for this device is On by clicking on
  Change.
• Also turn on Location as well.

Step 2: And as you are unable to set the service Geolocation service to automatic, I suggest you to run SFC scan and check.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
  
• 
  After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Location service is greyed out

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to turn On Windows location platform by the below steps and see if it helps.

Method 1:

1) Type location in the search bar and click on change location settings.

2) Then, check the box Turn ON Windows location platform” and “Help improve Windows Location services”.

3) Click on Apply.

Alternatively, you can go to Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click location settings.

Method 2:

Please follow the steps to run System Maintenance troubleshooter
on the computer:

• Type “Control Panel” on the search box.
• Click on Troubleshooting.
• Click on View all option on the left side of the Windows.
• Click on System Maintenance option.
• Click on Next and follow the onscreen instructions to troubleshoot the issue.

Also, make sure to check the geolocation service and set it to automatic.

Open Run command by pressing Win Key + R, type services.msc
and find Geolocation services.

• What is the OS Build of your copy of Windows 10? To determine the build of Windows 10, follow these steps:
  • Click the Windows logo (Start button).
  • Click the gear icon (Settings).
  • Select System.
  • On the right-pane, choose About.
• Can you please provide us the screenshot of the issue? This will help us further investigate your concern.

It is possible that the current user profile that you're using is corrupted. This can be the reason why the Location service option is greyed out. While we wait for the answers to our questions, we recommend
creating a new administrator user for us to know if you will be able to turn
on the Location service while using the new account.
