Windows 10: I can't update my pc, It freezes on restart.

(I'll try to give the best description I can)


I've been trying to update my pc for months now and the same thing happens every time I finish the download. It starts the update, gets to the blue screen and installs up to 26% or 28%. I've tried multiple times to update, I even a fresh install of windows but I couldn't do that the same thing happens on that to. If I have to shut It down Its fine, but when I have to restart It gets to the windows boot logo screen and freezes. I then have to manually shut It down and boot It up again. I don't know If this matters but the windows version I'm currently using is 1607. I've spent a bunch of hours looking to see If anything could be the problem but I'm not that experienced with computers, I just use It to play games.

Windows Creator Update Freezes Some Programs when typing

Thanks for the reply. Since the Creator's Update is giving you some issues, we suggest reverting back to the previous update. Here are the steps:

• Open Settings window.
• Click Update and Security, then Recovery.
• Select Get Started, under Go back section.

Once done, it will restart your PC. After the restart, please do check if you'll still experience freeze moments on any programs you are working on.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Windows 10 hangs/freezes on Restart

If this happens even during installation, that means that it is probably a hardware issue. To troubleshoot the problem, I suggest doing the following steps:

1. Install Hard Disk Sentinel and use it to check your HDD/SSD for problems.
   
2. Use MemTest to make sure that your RAM is ok. Here is a how to - guide.
   

After You done these two steps, give a feedback of the results.
