I can't use shortcuts such qs window+alt+R or wondow+G on my laptop. This occurs right after the latest update of window on 12th June 2025. How do I fix this.

Disable Windows 10 Alt+R and Alt+S

I found the source of the Alt+R, Alt+S and Alt+G overrides:

A program by IOBit called Start Menu 8 added these "features" to Windows 10.

Once I uninstalled the program, the Alt+ keys returned to their normal program-specific (vs. windows override) condition.

I use keyboard-shortcuts exclusively. So anyone who has this problem should uninstall that program. There are other Start Menu replacements out there that work great.

Step 2: Run Hardware and device Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your devices. Refer these steps:

  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.

  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

We'd like to know if the other dedicated key are working properly? What happens when you press the Mail icon key?

As an alternative to create a shortcut key for Windows Mail, follow the steps below:

• Right-click on the Mail app shortcut icon > Select Properties.
• Go to Shortcut tab > On the Shortcut key field, hit any key.
• Press OK.

Note: If you type 'G' for example under the Shortcut key field it will automatically show Ctrl + Alt + G. The shortcut key would depend on your choice but the Ctrl + Alt will be constant.
