Windows 10: I can't wipe my SSD from windows set up or diskpart.

I've started having issues since I opened up a game that I haven't played in a while but still had it downloaded. When I played it, the text was messed up and then it crashed. I went into my steam client to verify the game files and then my computer went to BSOD. After that my disk started running at 100% and my computer would freeze up. This was about 1 month ago and for a while it didn't run 100% again although my disk usage would spike sometimes; it ran fine and I was able to use it normally. But now for the past couple days, My computer has been randomly crashing. The crashes would be more

You could 'clean' it with diskpart, I am not 100% sure what the windows installer did to it, 'cleaning' it with diskpart may make your OS not load even if it is on the HDD depending on where it put the MBR, so proceed at your own risk.

To clean:
From windows command line...

diskpart <enter>
list disk <enter>
note the disk # of the SSD
select disk # (Number of ssd)
clean <enter>

NOTE: once the SSD is 'cleaned' it cant be undone and everything will be wiped.

 

diskpart doesn't show disk

Hey,

I am trying to install Win10 on a mac book air.

However the diskpart does not list the disk even after reformatting the partition as NTFS per suggestion.

read through this solution but cannot move to step 1 listed in the solution by Ivan as that disk doesn't see that partition it was just able to reformat.

Motherboard and SSD Replacement: Need Backup Advice

As I understood, a Dell technician will go to your house and replace the MB and the SSD.

You must have to do some homework before he arrives.
- Make a Disk image of both drives (SSD and HDD) and save it to an external drive.
- As they will take the old SSD and MB, I suggest you wipe the SSD (it has many user data on it) before he arrive as it can take some hours to clean all clusters.

To wipe the SSD:
- Disconnect the HDD from the MB.
- Boot from a Windows installation media (USB, DVD, etc.) When the Windows setup wizard shows up, simultaneously press the Shift + F10 keys on your keyboard. It will open a CMD window. Type:

diskpart
list disk (it will list all drives. Identify the SSD drive number)
select disk n (replace n by the SSD drive number obtained with list disk)
clean all
exit (to exit diskpart)
