Hello!I upgraded my mobo/CPU/RAM from AM3+/DDR4 to AM4/DDR5.I have initially installed windows 8.1, which I had upgraded to windows 10 home. This was installed to my hard drive, and that installation is still present as I go about backing up data before formatting it.Instead I went and installed windows 10 from a bootable USB to my SSD. When I try to reactivate after unlinking my previous device using my android browser, it does not allow me to do so.n.b.: I cannot access the original HDD install as my previous mobo/cpu/ram combination died.

    :)

Changing my MOBO and CPU a

You will have to buy windows license if you change the motherboard, unless you made the computer originally in the first place, or bought a license key.

I'm doing PC upgrades and changes entirely for my new mini-itx build.

I'm not sure about how the process would work, but what are the appropriate steps I need to undertake before making my changes?

    • My personal data and files are backed up to my Onedrive, and have nothing to lose in terms of data.
    • I have an additional copy of Windows 10 (but would prefer not to use it in-case I do another PC build).
    • My MOBO and CPU upgrades are polar opposites of my current hardware:
      • OLD HARDWARE
        • Intel i5 6500
        • AsRock Killer MOBO
      • New Hardware
        • AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
        • Asus Strix X-470
This is my first time doing a particular change so guiding steps would be greatly appreciated! Things like how to wipe my hard-drive and reinstall Windows, etc.

Can I install Windows 10/11 on a new SSD, while keeping my original install on my HDD and access files on it from the SSD install?

    Hello!

I am planning to upgrade my system (mobo/CPU/RAM). This will require reinstalling windows. However, I lack the space/access to back up my data on my HDD properly. Currently, I have windows installed on my 1 TB HDD, with a 512 GB SSD recently added to handle game loading.

I am thinking that once I get my new system configration, I will also buy a 256 GB SSD and install windows onto this new drive while leaving the original HDD alone, then set BIOS to boot from the SSD.

Will I be able to access my data on the original hard drive? Will I be able to install software on the original hard drive as if it were a secondary, storage drive like I have set my SSD up currently?

Is there a way to convert the HDD to a pure data partition, perhaps even changing its letting (from C to D or E).

    Thank you!
