Windows 10: I changed the boot from uefi to legacy

I changed the boot from uefi to legacy when I hitted f10 to save and exit it gave me a black screen i hold the power button for 5 seconds to force shut down it after I started it again my laptop won't boot it gave a black screen without anything i restarted it 3 times thinking it will go into automatic repair but nothing happened please help me I m middle class i can't afford to go to computer experts and give them this laptop to repair everything is upon you

How to change a legacy Boot W10 diskt to use UEFI Boot

Hi all,

I would like to modernize my well running W10 by changing the boot process to UEFI (Reason: Using NVmE SSDs or GPT sized disk). Because the system has many well configured apps used day by day a clean install would be the least favorable choice.

So my questions are:

• Is it possible to patch a fully installed and featured W10 from legacy boot to UEFI boot? And how?
• If possible: does a patched system needs a new activation (Its a migrated W10 from W7)?

BTW: I have already read lots of post dealing with UEFI. But I didn't find any usable answer yet.

UEFI vs Legacy boot mode

I recommend you stick with legacy install instead to avoid any compatibility problem hardware or software. Uefi have the speed advantage for boot up but I don't find it to be a good trade-off for the compatibility problems that appeared. Secure boot for uefi is a pain if you decide to install multiple os as the other os is "locked" out. I used uefi for my previous install it is a lengthy install selecting the correct bios setting without borking the install. I'll move to uefi if I don't have a need for multiple os or legacy things. So far I seem to need it.

 

How to change boot order from legacy to Uefi

I recently unistalled the operating system so I installed windows 10 on legacy boot even tough my device support uefi can I change back to uefi boot after installing Windows 10 up to windows 11 and will I lose my data?
