System config: Unable to change to higher number of CPU cores when booting up if choosing to boot with lower cores

    Hello.

    Thank you for the details.

I changed the number of processes myself. What I meant was that before I changed to just boot with 1 core, the drop down list shows the number from 1-8. But after booting up with it, the OS was really slow. I know that my CPU has 8 cores so I assumed I suppose to open MSConfig and revert the number of processes in the boot tab back to 8 so I did that, but this time the drop down list just showed 1 process. I don’t know if this is a bug but I hope you get the idea now.

You mentioned that Windows can get corrupted if I mess that setting so I ran every DISM command in order, then a sfc scan, restart my PC, and run a sfc one more time. All the commands found nothing so I think I’m good now.

I changed number of cores in Msconfig and now my pc won't boot

    Hi Team,

I changed the number of cores on my cpu in my Msconfig after a stupid suggestion and now my pc will not start. It says automatic repair can't repair your pc and the only option I have is to go to advanced options. Can someone please help me with this, I presume it would be fixed through command prompt but I am not sure which commands to do! I have tried resetting, that will not work, and I am completely lost. Thank you very much I changed the number of my cores in msconfig from 9 to 16 and now my windows wont boot... :)

    Number of Processors in MSCONFIG

Ok, so i'm tweaking with my OS, and i opened up msconfig. I noticed that under Number of Processors, it shows I have 16. I only have an 8-core processor. What would happen if i chose 8 or 16? Would i get a faster boot time?
