I continually get the message "Microsoft Account Problems, Dictionary Attack Mitigation."

A dictionary attack is a method for stealing a password. The attacker enters every word in a standard dictionary - and common variations of the same - until it hits on your password. That's why one of the rules for choosing a good password is: don't let
it be a word that can be found in a dictionary.

You can't see this happening, so you wouldn't know that you were the victim of a dictionary attack, unless the attacker for some reason decided to make that information public.

You would only know that your account was attacked in some way, e.g., no money in the bank, your identity was stolen, spam email being sent in your name, etc. It doesn't have anything to do with adding an email account.

How about letting us know ...

You want to add an email account to what?

What is the it that won't let you add your email account?

 

Dictionary attack mitigation triggered; Device locked for security reason.

'This device has been locked for security reason.'

I am getting this message every time I try to sign in with my PIN. I am able to sign in with my
password.

But, when I try to change my PIN, I get this:

'The Dictionary Attack Mitigation was Triggered and the Provided Authorization was Ignored by the Provider.'

Windows Hello seems to not recognize me on the lock screen, but subsequently allows me to "Improve Recognition".

I found one other person who had this same issue on his PC:

Does anybody have any ideas?

every time I try to add an email account and add the pin, it wont let me due to a dictionary attack. I have no idea what to do.
