  1. I damaged the file cmd.exe, and then months later it fixes itself?

Months ago I was following a youtube tutorial on experimenting with commands. One of them was renaming the cmd.exe, directly from the command prompt. After renaming cmd.exe with the command, I closed command prompt, and minutes later when I wanted to re-open/use command prompt, nothing.I damaged cmd.exe, I made the file corrupt. The cmd.exe file was still there in the original location of the folder System32, but it wasn't working. So in this case, is my fault.Months pass and when I get curious to see if the command prompt would open, it did!?The only answer I have so far for myself is that, per

I damaged the file cmd.exe, and then months later it fixes itself?

Unable to open regedit, cmd or any .exe files

Hi, I am encountering a problem that the default app of .exe files has been changed.

While I did some research that many of the solutions suggest that I can reset it via cmd or regedit. However, my oc doesn't let me open any of those.

Everytime I choose to open regedit or cmd. Both of them has the "open with" box popped up, which is the same as other applications.

What is happening to my pc? Can anyone help?

    Thanks a lot.
