I did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are gone. Drives are showing 100% empty. How could C drive installation delete all other drives? I tried every type of drive recovery app but no files recovered.

  2. Installing Windows on my new C drive

Current Situation: My C Disk is cramming up and I decided to change a new C disk.

Currently my computer storage is composed of an SSD (being my C disk) and an HDD. I bought a new SSD and desire to somehow transfer my current system into the new SSD along with the current environmental variables, user data, both program files folder, and
various other folders instead of installing a brand new system on my new C drive.

    Questions I am currently wondering:

    1. I noticed the function provided by windows called "Create a system image". Currently my softwares are distributed evenly in my C drive (SSD) and D drive (HDD). I am not changing my HDD, so softwares installed there will not be removed. If I only choose
to backup my system in my C drive, can I still run my softwares on my HDD after changing a C drive and reinstalling Windows using the generated ISO file?
    2. Does this function "create a system image" pack up the environmental variables, registry, along with all other folders in my C drive, or only the minimal system?
    3. If I extract the system image ISO into my new C drive, can I somehow "extract" from the ISO file to create a new system in my new drive? If not, is it possible to make my new C drive a windows Boot USB, and directly installing the windows system onto itself?
    4. What is your suggested method of making this move?

    Thank you for your help!!

  3. Installing to a second Drive. D: or external (Non Boot up Drives)

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern as you are looking for an option to move the game location from the C drive to the Drive D, which is an external drive.

In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check if that resolves your issue on both laptop and Desktop.

    1. As usual install the game on the PC’s in
      C Drive.
    2. Insert the external
      D drive
      to the PC.
    3. Press Windows + I key from the keyboard to launch
      Settings.
    4. Select Apps and click on
      Apps & features
      from the left pane.
    5. Search for the installed game from the list on the right pane.
    6. Single click on the game and select
      Move.
    7. Select the D drive under
      Choose a drive
where you want to move the game.
    8. Restart the PC with the external drive connected and then launch the game.

    We await your response.

  4. I did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are...

A partition drive is e and not d in windows 10

Hi guys, when I installed windows 10 I did it using a USB. I went from windows 7 to windows 10. With Windows 7 I had made a partition, so I had OS (CI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :) and (Data (DI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :). When I installed Windows 10 (using the USB), what used to be Data (DI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :), became (Data (EI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :),
as the usb became Drive (DI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :). So what I have now, after removing the usb is: OS (CI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :) and (Data (EI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :). And whenever I connect and external drive, such as a usb or a backup external hard drive, it becomes Drive (DI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :). My question is if this is a problem, to have
OS (CI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :) and (Data (EI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :), instead of Data being D:? Is it important for Data to be D and not E, because when I start my computer, I don't always have connected a Drive D? Should I always have something connected to the computer so it becomes Drive D? Should
I re-install Windows 10 and make sure that Data is D:? Is this an issue for having (Data (EI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :) and not as (Data (DI did windows installation on a new C drive and all files that where on D and E drives are... :)? I'm saying this because it's not following a right sequence and C and E are partitions, which were part of a same drive once, and it's not
following a sequence now. My computer has had some issues and I'm wondering if this could be the cause.

    Thanks!
