  1. I do not have the permissions to view my photos that I've moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10

I recently changed from a Windows 7 to a Windows 10 machine. I have always saved my photos on an external hard drive. When I plugged this hard drive into my new computer, it told me that I didn't have the permissions to view all of my photos and videos. I tried changing the permissions in the properties > security section of each folder, and it's now set that everyone has full access on the device as shown below.

I do not have the permissions to view my photos that I've moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10 8e9e8800-85a4-4520-b425-8f0d4574cae5?upload=true.png

However this didn't seem to change the permissions for every photo, and I still can't view them. The error I get is:

I do not have the permissions to view my photos that I've moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10 b9ba6307-b00d-437e-afb4-f7a41169e8f9?upload=true.png

I have thousands of photos in these files, and although I know I can go into the properties of each photo and change the permissions to allow me to view them I have worked out to do this on a file-by-file basis, it will take me days to do them all. Why has changing the permissions of the file not also changed the permissions of the contents within it? Is there a work-around? Why is this happening? I can't even copy the files to another computer or move them off the hard drive at this current moment.

    :)

    Windows 10 permissions...

Ok so I feel officially dumb I am trying to copy my steam library to my NAS. Both are on windows 10 pro and both have full control in the file manager. Neither windows nor fast copy will allow me to copy, both list a permissions error? This was never an issue with windows 7...so first off thank you microsoft god forbid I want to back up my data, second off what the heck do I need to do to make this work. All I could fine online was to set full control and that obviously didn't help.

Also robocopy doesn't apparently work with network locations?

    Windows 10 permissions...

How is the NAS on windows 10 Pro? Is it software or a share? Did you check ntfs vs share permissions?

I do not have the permissions to view my photos that I've moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
