Windows 10: I do not see saved items on my desktop

Hi all,


A few days ago, I put my laptop back to the factory settings, and since then, I have a weird issue. For example: when I want to save a Word file or anything else! on my computer I select to save it on my desktop. However, it never appears on my actual desktop. When I open File Explorer and I click on the desktop, then it does appear there.


I was trying different things: I went to the file on the desktop via File Explorer and I created a shortcut to the desktop of this particular file. It appears then on the actual desktop as a shortcut. When I then delete the shortcut via File Explorer, it stays visible on the actual desktop but I can no longer delete it from there because of course, the shortcut does not exist. If I save a file anywhere else for example on my internal hard drive and then cut/paste it on my desktop, that does work.


I have never encountered this problem before. Anyone any ideas on what this is and how to fix it?

Your suggestion does not work. It did work on Windows 7.

• How are you trying to add the favorites to desktop?

I suggest you to try the below steps to save the favorites on desktop and check if it helps.

• Open the Internet Explorer and minimize the screen.
• Then go to the favorites tab and then drag any favorites that you have saved to the desktop.
• Once you get the favorites items \ folders then you can open the favorites and check if it is opening.
