Windows 10: I don't have access to any of my photos on phone link

I have been trying for the past 4 hours and no matter what I do, I just can't get the pictures I want. I linked and synced my devices. I allowed all permissions, repaired, reset the device and I still don't have access to the pictures I do want. It shows only 2000 or so pictures and only some of the pictures I do want shows up. I tried to send the pictures individually but it fails to send. I don't have a usb and my bluetooth doesn't connect so I thought phonelink would work but it's giving me a headache. I moves the pictures to one folder and tried limited access but the pictures won't show u

Windows Photos Viewer is an oddity; as I suggested, find a free downloadable image viewer you like, and use that.

I use a program in building my family tree- it lets me use an external viewer- simply whatever is set as default. Here you can see it displays the image in Photoviewer. I imagine Vuescanner requires you to specify the path literally.
