Windows 10: I don't have an option to open new tabs in notepad

I just upgraded to Windows 11 primarily because I heard that it has an option to open new notepads in tabs. I do not see this option, nor is there any setting option to enable this feature.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below:

• Open Task Manager. Here’s a tip: press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
• Click on Startup tab.
• Select Notepad from the list and click on Disable.

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

When you open Notepad, the tabs before the last closure will appear automatically, this is to avoid user data loss, if you want to turn off this feature, please make sure your Notepad is the latest version, you can manually update it through Microsoft Store.



Please open the latest version of Notepad, click the "gear" icon on the top right, and select Notepad Startup - Open New Window.
