  2. Device Manager Un-Hiding Hidden Devices

When you connect a plug and play device, Windows Plug and Play manager detects it, finds and installs the driver. Device Manager lists the device with a solid icon.

The driver is only removed when you uninstall the device, not simply by disconnecting the device. When the device is disconnected, its driver is still installed. By default, Device Manager only displays connected devices. When you show hidden devices, note the Bluetooth icon you see is semi-transparent (not opaque). That indicates a "non-present" device. Sometimes also called a "ghost" device. The driver is still installed but the device is not currently detected (i.e. not connected).

    Device can be disconnected when
    • Device unplugged (e.g. removing a USB device)
    • Turning a device OFF
    • Disabling the device in BIOS (then windows won't detect it) or
    • Device failure

    So
    • Check BIOS as suggested
    • Check board connections
    • Can b/t be turned off by a switch? or keyboard combination?
Also possible the b/t h/w failed

I don't see bluetooth under Device settings even after choosing Show hidden devices. Is...

bluetooth device is not listed in the device manager (even not in hidden device)

8 years ago , i gave up windows and made a decision to switch to mac and last week finally i decided to give windows a try one more. I know i'm gonna be out of my comfort zone and will be struggling again with the driver problem etc.

So here's the case : last week, i installed windows 10, everything was running ok at the beginning , couple minor problem i had was the bluetooth took ages to detect any bluetooth device i attached. In fact in mac /android it only take couple of seconds.
After 4 days of using it, finally i got this bluetooth problem. Suddenly my bt keyboard didn't work. The keyboard is fine as i checked with other computer. so the problem is the bluetooth in my windows. The windows even couldn't detect any bluetooth device
i have. After trying to updatea driver or re-installing the bt driver for almost 2 days , i finally gave up. I tried any tricks from google but none of them can fix my problem. My bluetooth listed as 'intel wireless bluetooth' in device manager

I then decided to uninstall device (from device manager , right click - uninstall device) and here the disaster came. After uninstalling the bluetooth device, the bluetooth dissapeared from device manager. If i show hidden device, i can see bluetooth still
there but got 45 error code ("Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)
"). Following the steps i got from here : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14169/windows-10-fix-bluetooth-problems-faq , i update driver and uninstall device (again). Now the bluetooth is really gone for good. Not listed in the hidden device
anymore. Don't know how to get it back. I tried 'scan hardware changes' with no result. It's not listed in 'other device' so really i couldn't get access to it. The only possible thing to do is by manually add by 'add legacy hardware' , but my bt device is
not listed there, i'm trying to scroll can' t find it. try installing back the driver and nothing happen. I tried to restart many time hopefully it will show up in device manager , but no luck. I did 'scan new hardware changes' and show hidden device , nothing.....
    it's just 'evaporated' into air.

Pls anyone know how to fix this ? i've spent many my precious days just to deal with this tiny thing ... other than re-install windows of course. If i have to manually add , which one should i select ?

Here's the information about the device :

    Motherboard x399 asrock taichi.
