  1. I don't think my computer installed latest cumulative update

    Windows 10 Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.508)

Hello, my problem is that I'm pretty sure judging from the OS Build number that the latest cumulative update for this month wasn't installed. I think what happened is that when the computer was on earlier today, it downloaded (and I don't know, maybe even installed) the update but the computer was turned off instead of completing the update. When I turned it on this evening I got a message that some updates couldn't complete because of something shutting off so I went to Windows Update and downloaded and installed a few minor updates (including something for .Net Framework, but it might not have been the big one) but I saw no cumulative updates. After the minor updates were done, I tried clicking Check for Updates but it says the system is up to date. I know it probably isn't since there's a cumulative update every month and the OS Build number for this month's is supposed to be different. I reboot the computer and try Check for Updates again. No luck, it still says system is up to date. But according to the update history the last cumulative update installed was KB4571756 on 9/8/2020.

I also don't see a Cumulative Update for .Net Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 this month either. The last cumulative update for .Net Framework I see in the update history is "Cumulative Update for .Net Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based systems (KB4571756)" also installed on 9/8/2020.

So what do I do, do I ignore this and wait for next month's cumulative update to come out? Could my system even be damaged in some way I haven't noticed yet? Can I do something to make the Check for Updates feature actually detect and install this like it should? Should I install the cumulative update manually and is there anything else I should install first if I do? Does the same go for .Net Framework? Thanks in advance for any help.

    :)

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3156387) will not install

Maybe try with the Windows update mini-tool, found here http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/t...dows-10-automatic-updates-and-spyware.218745/ , thanks to Mussels. it installed perfectly for me last night.

  3. Windows 10 - Some parts of the UI not working after the latest cumulative update

I'm running Windows 10 build 18362.295. Last day i checked for updates and installed the available cumulative update including the OS security updates. After the installation of these updates i started facing the below issues which happens often (sometime everything is working properly)

    • Some parts of the GUI (on every window) is not working
    • I'm not able to use my touchpad gesture controls
    • Not able to click task bar icons, start button or anything on my task bar
    • It automatically triggers right click

I tried these methods to solve the issue:

    • Tried uninstalling the latest cumulative updates, visiting Installed updates. But it is not showing uninstall option. I also tried the command line method but that too didn't work.
    • I ran these commands and restarted my PC,

As per View update history i have,

    As per Installed Updates

I'm able to do all UI interaction using only keyboard, but not able to do the same using my external mouse or touch pad. As already mentioned these issues started after the recent updates. I tried searching google, but no where i found any useful information or problem similar to this.

    Update

As pointed out by @john, i was not on the latest build. So i checked for updates again and installed updates.

Now the View Update History window shows this,

And Installed Updates window shows this,

I'm now on the latest build 18362.329

  4. I don't think my computer installed latest cumulative update

Unable to install latest cumulative update

    I recently built a new computer and installed Windows 10 on it. After that, it proceeded to install all of the available updates... except for Cumulative Update. It's consistently failed to install any of the Cumulative updates since I built the computer;
it always ends up in what seems to be a restart loop until I manually reset or restart the computer. I'm on build number 14393.0 version 1607 currently.

If it helps at all, the copy of Windows is a download+key from Microsoft Imagine (college provided a key and download).

    So far, I've tried:

I've tried everything save for reinstalling Windows, and I would prefer not doing that unless I absolutely have to. Any help would be much appreciated.

EDIT: reinstalled Windows, same issues. A bit of extra info if it helps...

    • This is a college key. However, a different key provided by said college works fine on a different PC with no issues with updating.
    • OS is Windows 10 Pro
    • Relevant PC specs are:
      • i5-6600k
      • ASUS Z170-A
      • Gigabyte GTX 1060 Windforce 2
      • Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR4-2400
