Every time I try to copy files to a folder I think is unrelated to One Drive and try to turn off One Drive, the files disappear after either 24 hours or more. How can I keep all my files and make sure they don't disappear or get deleted by this insidious program?!

    :)

unable to save a file, directly to c- drive

    Hi chowdhuryrasul21,

Windows 10 is different to all previous versions of Windows. It does not want you saving files to the root of your C drive - don;t ask me the logic behind it - maybe it is because the hidden system files reside there and Microsoft don't want users deleting
    them by accident

Even if you right click in the root of your C Drive the only option is to create a new folder . . .

So while you can save files on your C Drive, it is probably best to just create a new folder on your C Drive and put your files in there . . .

    Mapped Drives Issues

To clarify .... the issue is the Windows 10 OS. It is with Windows File Explorer. The Mapped drives used to appear in File Explorer's left panel list of drives and folders. Two days ago File explorer stopped show the mapped drives. so not they don;t appear in the list of Drives and folders.

    - - - Updated - - -

I did, it has no effect. I also check the NAS devices they support SMB 2.0. Also I have several other computers on my home network they work fine with the mapped drives and They do not have SMB 1 turned on. So it is something that happened to the computer in question.

Cannot save files to network drives anymore

    Hi Brendo,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forums.

    • Which account was used to sign in to Office, when the user attempted to save files to the mapped drive?

This could be due to the incorrect user information used. You may want to try the steps listed below and check if it works for you:

    • Open Word 2016, and navigate to
      File > Account
      .
    • Sign out of all the accounts under User Information.
    • Restart Office, navigate to
      File > Account
      .
    • Sign In to use the work email for user information.
    • Now, try saving the Office documents to the mapped drive.

If the issue persists, as the issue is related to Server, I suggest you to post your query in the
    TechNet
    forums
, where we have support professionals who are well equipped with the knowledge on Servers to assist you with this.

    Regards,
