Windows 10: I downloaded an off-line version of MS Edge to install on win 7 but it will not install.

I had downloaded and installed Win 10 because MS & Chrome no longer support Win 7. I did not like it. So I re-installed Win 7 from an OEM USB, But that had IE8 and over time I went through the updates to Win 11. Before I went to Win 10 I copied IE 11 on CD and the updates to support that. Win 11 will not install says it is missing something. Is there a work around? Or do I need some working version of IE to install Edge? Would I have to go thru all the progressions from IE 8-11? Wipe and install Win 7

Confusing.
I assume you mean "not happy" instead of "beyond happy".

At the very least you'll need:

1. A legitimate W7 install disk and Product Key
2. KB976932 Service Pack 1
3. Driver install files
4. KB3020369 Prerequisite for KB3125574
5. KB3125574 W7 SP1 Update Rollup (Windows will be updated to April 2016)

Then follow this tutorial:

Once you have successfully installed W7, the updates listed above and the drivers, install a program like Macrium Reflect and create at least 2 Backup System Images (on different external HDDs).

Once you have created the Backup System Images, you can risk downloading the remaining updates for W7.
I only install the Security-Only updates (and some fixes for them):



Note:
You'll also need to apply IE and .NET updates separately.

Aren't they all listed as evaluation copies untill you activate them?

 

Win7 SP1 ready MS Download Centre

So I installed the newly released Win 7 x86 SP1 onto 20 machines today before I realized that they were all showing up with 'Evaluation copy Build 7601' on the desktop after a reboot after the install. The SP was downloaded from the MS site and listed as released today. Unfortunately I already boxed up all the machines to ship.

I guess I need to unbox all those machines and uninstall SP1 before giving them to my customer.

Am I the only one who has seen this with the newly released (not RC) download?
