  1. I DOWNLOADED ONE DRIVE AFTER A RECENT UPDATE. HOW I WISH I HAD NOT!! I

Hi, As mentioned I unfortunately download One Drive after a recent update. It seemed to take ages in downloading my Picture Files so I stopped it, and turned it off, as I was closing down for the night. Next thing I realized all my pictures had been removed from my Albums. I took me ages sorting and managing those Albums. They are now empty. Why does One Drive have to take over my computer?

Having read about One Drive, it seems you can't even delete the pictures in it because you then delete the pictures on the computer as well. How ridiculous is that.

At least I have a GREEN TICK at the side of the pictures it's 'taken' whatever that means, but it seems it's better than not having the green tick. I've just read that on this forum.

I only wanted One Drive to make a copy of my pictures and store them safely just in case I happened to lose any.

I wish I had never ever downloaded One Drive.

I really would like to go back to last week when One Drive was not on my computer. Is there any way I can get rid of it and go back to what I had originally.

I'd rather put all my pictures in My Passport, at least I'd know where they are and it's simple to use. I can't fathom One Drive at all. Then I find after reading about it that all my stuff has been put in Cloud. I never asked for that. Okay, I know now I should have read about it before downloading the thing, but I didn't. Honestly I've had sleepless nights thinking about it.

It just feels as though One Drive has taken over my computer and I'm no longer in control of it. It's like a virus. I hate the dam thing.

At the moment it is turned off and I really dare not turn it back on for fear of what it will do.

If I can't go back to how things were prior to One Drive I would like to know how I can put my pictures in a folder to keep them safe from One Drive's clutches. I'm not very technologically inclined. Very basic ability, so please can you explain in simple language what I should do. Most grateful for any advice you can give me.

    :)

  3. Recently used items does not show after a recent Windows update

    Hello Timothy,

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft Community and we regret for the inconvenience. Let me assist you.

To be able to assist you better, let us know a few more details on the below questions.

    1) Did you make any recent changes to the computer?

    2) Did you check if similar issues occur when logged in to the computer using a different user account?

    3) Do you have any system restore point set prior to the issue?

To check if there is any Restore Point already created, follow the below steps.

    • Press Windows key + X, select System.

    • In the left pane, click on System Protection.

    • Select the option to system restore > next. It will show all restore points already created.

    4) What is the particular Windows update you are referring to?

To do so, you need to check the settings through Windows update. Follow the below steps.
    • Open the Settings Charm with the shortcut Windows Key

    • Click on the Update and recovery and click on the View your update history.
    • You will now see a list of your installed Windows Updates. If you click on any one of the

    • Right click on Taskbar and choose Properties.
    • Select the tab Start Menu.
    • Uncheck both the options for:

      1) Store and display recently opened programs in the Start Menu

      2) Store and display recently opened items in the Start Menu and the Task Bar
    • Also select a higher number recent items to display in Jump List

If the above does not apply, please follow the below suggested methods and check in case if it is a functionality issue in Windows.

    Method 1

This issue may happen due to system file corruption. I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow
    the below given steps:

    • Press Windows key + X, select
Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.

    • In Command prompt type
      sfc/scannow
      and press enter.

    • Restart the computer.

    Method 2

If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state or were irrecoverable, then I suggest you to try the following steps to deploy the DISM command lines:

    • Press Windows key + X.

    • Click command prompt (Run as administrator).

    • In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press Enter key after each command:

      DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
