Windows 10: I factory reset my computer, but software keeps installing automatically.

Yeah, so, I reset my computer recently. To fully explain what happened, I need to give some context. A few years ago I was messing around with my computer and installed new operating systems. I ultimately decided to keep with Windows 10. Fast forward to now and I just reset my computer. I did one of those full clean wipes to get rid of all files on the computer. Afterwards, I feared I accidentally downloaded malware so I reset it again, this time using a cloud download to reinstall Windows, one of the options they gave me when resetting, instead of doing a local install as I usually do. Since you did a factory reset on your computer, possibly the outdated network adapter driver causes the connection issue. Just for clarification, did you install the updated network drivers? If not, we suggest that you update the Network adapter driver.

• Go to Device Manager, then click Network adapters and select the network adapter name.
• Press and hold (or right-click) the network adapter, and then select
  Update Driver Software > Search automatically for updated driver software. Follow the steps, then select
  Close.
• After installing the updated driver, restart the computer.

If Windows can’t find a new driver for your network adapter, visit the PC manufacturer’s website and download the latest network adapter driver from there.

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the helps.

Step 1: Remove all the external devices (except keyboard and mouse) connected to the computer and check if it helps.

Step 2: I suggest you to download the Windows 10 ISO and create a Media Creation tool and then perform Automatic Repair.

Once you have the installation media, follow the steps:

• Start your computer from the installation media. Insert the disk or USB stick and restart your computer. If you see a message asking you to “Press any key to boot from DVD,” do so. If you don’t see the message, you might need to
  change the boot order in your computer's BIOS settings so that it first starts from the disk or USB. When you see the 'Install Windows' page, tap or click 'Repair your computer' link to start the Windows Recovery Environment.
• In the Windows Recovery Environment, on the Choose an option screen, click 'Troubleshoot'.
• Click, Advanced Options and then click on 'Automatic Repair'.
• After this complete the repair and see if you are able to boot in to your computer.
