  1. I fixed a 100% disk usage in task manager issue but now my C drive is full suddenly.

My 5th Gen Surface Pro was bogged down with 100% disk usage. I searched help forums and found the following advice, which I followed:

"Task Manager> Services> Find DiagTrack > right click and STOP. After you stop the DiagTrack service in the services tab, click "open services" at the bottom. Find "connected user experiences and telemetry" in the list that opened, right click it and open properties. Click the dropdown menu that says "startup type" and disable it. Then go to the recovery tab in the properties window, and select "no action" on the three dropdown menus."

That worked great, or so it seemed. Computer was running fast and nice but an hour or so later I got a low disk space warning and I looked to find my C drive totally full (117G). Prior to the fix I was using only about 1/3 of C drive.

I'm not sure what to do now. I can't even free up enough space to reset the PC. I'd also like to avoid that if possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    :)

  2. Task manager showing disk usage 100%

100% disk usage can have many causes.

What are the top 5 processes listed in the task manager using the disk?

  3. Disk Usage at 100% with nothing running

My PC is running Windows 10 with the latest updates but has suddenly become unusable with disk usage staying at 100% even with nothing running and just the same processes listed in Task Manager as before the problems
started. I've tried a few suggestions found in online forums - disabling Windows Search and Superfetch, adjusting page file size, etc. but nothing has done the trick yet. I don't have any outside anti-virus software installed. I read about the potential MSI
issue but don't have IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers listed in the Device Manager. Finally, it seems to boot up normally and will have periods where the disk usage drops and it's usable but those moments are brief and it inevitably goes back up to 100% usage.

Windows 10 - 100% Disk Usage in Device Manager

A concerning issue I am currently facing with my PC is the disk usage, where my PC is best described as lethargic during start up, and less commonly but evidently unresponsive afterwards. Upon checking the task manager, it informs me the disk usage is at
100% - so obviously something is draining this feature. What isn't so obvious is what is causing this, despite the task manager alerting me to the numerous software which is causing it. I end the task for the notable issues, and the 100% warning still
remains. This has happened to me over a year ago, and I did a restore and wiped everything. This fixed the issue for me temporarily, and the 100% disk usage came back to me within a few weeks. At the moment I
have 1.2TB of the 1.81TB SSHD space free, and my computer specs are below (I don't know if this will be useful).

I have searched online and I have found a guide which I have linked
    here
. I have completed each and every step that the guide asks me, and I keep running into this 100% disk usage. For a run down, I have:

    • Disabled Windows Search
    • Disabled Super Fetch
    • Performed a Disk Check (Took 8 hours, did nothing!)
    • Reset Virtual Memory
    • Changed the settings in Google and Skype
    • Fix the "StorAHCI.sys driver"
    • Updated device drivers

At this moment, I am stumped into what to try next. I am reluctant to restore everything off my machine again, as the issue came back to me within a few weeks. Any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Many thanks,

    Chester
