Windows 10: I fixed/removed the ms-resource:AppName icon in start menu but It still exists in the...

After a recent windows update I got the ghost ms-resource:AppName icon at the bottom of the start menu and it was related to the calculator and Microsoft.Windows.HolographicFirstRun. As a result the calculator was not working properly. I found some instructions to fix it by removing the Microsoft.Windows.HolographicFirstRun using Powershell and deleting the TempState directory.


That worked and the ms-resource:AppName icon at the bottom of the start menu was removed and the calculator showed up and worked again properly in the start menu.


Now the problem is, when I search for the calculator in the windows search bar the calculator icon still will not show up, just the ms-resource:AppName icon which takes you to the installed apps screen.


Does anyone know how I can fix the windows search so it will also get rid of the ms-resource:AppName icon calculator placeholder?


I could only find very few examples of other people having this same issue but nobody had replied to them.


As a test I created a new user account and on that new account the calculator worked fine in both the start menu and the search so it has something to do with the profile.


Also, even if I uninstall the calculator, the ghost entry still shows up in the search results if i search for the calculator.


There must be a separate database for the windows search bar that has the ghost entry for the calculator that needs to be cleared, the same way I did it for the start menu deleted TempState.


I tried rebuilding the search index to no avail.


I would really appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction on this.

I have been searching for a solution for hours but can't find much on this.

You generally set that via the Start Menu settings (right-click start menu -> properties).

I had that issues a while ago, and it meant removing it from the Start Menu, and reinstalling my browser to get the icon back, it was very odd.

@oil: That's what I did, but unfortunately it's different, it should be like "Internet" and should have the icon of FireFox.

So.. Remove the icon via Start menu properties, uninstall FF (again) and install?

Hey guys I need your help fixing the default access icon on the start menu, as far as google searches suggested default user access and all it only fixes the IE icon, but when I chose fire fox to display it's just a globe when clicked on it still displays IE's properties but doesn't start firefox instead. Help please? *Respect :respect:*Cry :cry:

BTW it was not like this before, I just wanted a clean install for my browser.
