Windows 10: I forgot my PIN on an older laptop, it doesn't have an option to reset.

I have an HP Split from 2014 or so, and I have forgotten the PIN to the lock screen. Now after 1 incorrect entry, it tells me I have entered the wrong number too many times and to restart the device. This only gives me one more try before telling me to restart again, and the booting process takes *forever*.On the lock screen, it just has the box for PIN, not the usual "forgot PIN" question. Please tell me there is a way to get into this computer. I am not sure if this is windows 10...after xp I haven't kept up. Forgot PIN, no other login options

I lost the PIN for a Windows laptop. When I hit "forgot my PIN" the screen said "just a moment" and had a spinning circle. It stayed that way for about 10 minutes, then there was a popup that said "you must download an app from the Store to complete this request". When I returned to the login screen, I tested a number of PINs that were incorrect, and now there is no "forgot my PIN" option. There was never an option to sign in with a password listed.

If you have forgotten your PIN for Windows 10 on your laptop, don't worry, there are a few ways you can reset it.

1. Use your Microsoft account password: If you have set up a Microsoft account to sign in to your Windows 10 laptop, you can use your account password to sign in instead of the PIN. Click on "Sign-in options" on the login screen and select "Password" to enter your Microsoft account password.
   
2. Reset your PIN using your Microsoft account: If you have set up a Microsoft account to sign in to your Windows 10 laptop, you can reset your PIN using your account. Click on "I forgot my PIN" on the login screen and follow the instructions to reset your PIN.
   
3. Reset your PIN using the command prompt: If you are unable to reset your PIN using your Microsoft account, you can use the command prompt to reset it. Follow these steps:
   

• Press the Windows key + X and select "Windows PowerShell (Admin)".
  
• Type the command "net user [your username] *" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
  
• You will be prompted to enter a new password. Enter a new password and press Enter.
  
• You will be prompted to confirm your new password. Enter it again and press Enter.
  
• Your PIN should now be reset.
  

1. Reset your PIN using a password reset disk: If you have created a password reset disk before you forgot your PIN, you can use it to reset your PIN. Insert the password reset disk into your laptop and click on "Reset Password" on the login screen. Follow the instructions to reset your PIN.
   

If none of these methods work, you may need to reset your laptop to its factory settings. However, this will delete all your data and installed apps, so it should be your last resort.

 

The "i forgot my pin" option on my laptop won't load

when I got this laptop, I decided to use my pin instead of password. But after sometime I forgot about the pin and instead using the fingerprint option because its available and there's mothing wrong for at least six or eight months. But after yesterday when I turn it on, it suddenly ask for a pin and I cannot open it with my fingerprint. So I tried to use the option "I forgot my pin" and it won't load either so what can I do besides resetting my laptop?
