Windows 10: I forgot the password for an older windows user account. It is also tied to an old email.

I have an older laptop with an older user account on it. There is 2GB of files tied to this account. It uses an old email address and I forgot the password. Is there a way for me to access this user account so I can retrieve the files and then remove the account?

I tried that. The problem is the old account has an old email associated with it that is not valid anymore.

So there is no longer a MS account associated with that email. I tried going into Windows users and changing the password there. Even though my other account is the Administrator for the laptop, the Change Password is grayed out when I try to change the password for the old account.

So to be specific. I have an old user account with an old email address and a forgotten password for it on a Windows 10 laptop.

you know when you boot up your computer... and yeha i have more than one account and I forgot the password to one of them.

is there anyway for me to get in to the account? or the account will be perminant lock if i dont remember password?
