Windows 10: I forgot the password on my windows 10 and idk what to do.

So i planed to give my old pc to a friend and factory reset it and then he got a new pc and didint need mine. So it just stayed on factory untouched not even setuped. And later we had some problems with the wifi so my dad used it to setup something that can expand the wifi idk and he had to set it up when everything was done a few mouths later now i got an idea to sell that pc and i dont know the password and to enter it i needed a password from my dad bc he setuped the pc but he forgot the password. And my question is what to do?

Forgot Windows 10 password...

So I fired up my laptop in order to use it to flash a router without mucking around with the rest of my networking... and I forgot the password to log in. Is there anything I can do short of reinstalling windows, or downloading a Linux LiveCD? (If I do have to download something, I'd prefer the file size to be as small as possible, because of evil data caps)

For future reference, there have been reports that this was patched out several weeks back. I found an alternative method doing some registry diving.
