    Forgot PIN, no other login options

    I lost the PIN for a Windows laptop. When I hit "forgot my PIN" the screen said "just a moment" and had a spinning circle. It stayed that way for about 10 minutes, then there was a popup that said "you must download an app from the Store to complete this request". When I returned to the login screen, I tested a number of PINs that were incorrect, and now there is no "forgot my PIN" option. There was never an option to sign in with a password listed.

    Forgot admin pin/pasword

    I used the free upgrade when it was available on my laptop (over a year ago). I forgot the password so now I have a laptop with windows 10 but no updates and it is a security problem. Since the free upgrade did not include the forgot pin/password option,
    I am stuck. What now?

    Windows 11 forgot PIN

    I forgot my pin-Accounts-PIN-I forgot my PIN-I click it, enter my password, I get a code sent to my phone but I'm not given enough time to get the code and then enter it. I get kicked back to Accounts-Sign-in options screen. Any suggestions?
