Windows 10: I found a solution to when your desktop top icons auto arrange after reboot and wanted to share

Recently, I'd say over the past month, every time my computer rebooted, it would auto arrange my desktop icons across the entire screen in no visible pattern. I did not and do not have "auto arrange" or even "Align to grid" enabled. it was the first thing I checked when this started happening It was rather maddening. For context, I have Windows 11. I came here for solutions but none of them worked, then I saw a pop up on my laptop as a notice with one drive, something about being on a metered connection, which I shouldn't have since I have an unlimited data plan. I would suggest you to try the steps and check if it helps.

a) Right click on Desktop.

b) Click on View.

c) Uncheck both "Arrange icons to grid" and "Auto arrange icons".

d) Restart the computer and check if it helps.

Note: If you want to manually arrange your desktop icons uncheck Auto arrange icons

Auto Arrange Icons on your Desktop will always align them top left on your Desktop

To manually manage your icons as you like to have them on your Desktop, you must disable Auto-Arrange, by right clicking your Desktopn and choosing View - 'Auto arrange Icons'
