I get error 0x00000520 when i try to connect to a shared printer. Host machine running win 10, client running win 11, please help. It happened recently after windows update on client machine, was working fine before. File sharing is not affected.

Can't share printer—getting error message

Step 1: Go to store.
Step 2: Buy a less shitty printer.
Step 3: Pick up some beer while you are there.
Step 4: Enjoy both your new printer and your beer.

In all seriousness, I have had more issues with Lexmark printers and their shitty drivers then any other manufacturer, HP is a close second though.

However, if you don't want to get a new printer*Laugh :laugh:, and I can understand that, when my Lexmark was giving me the same troubles in Win7(and Vista) I had to make sure the Windows firewall was ON and the firewall service was enabled and running. After I shared it I could re-disable the firewall and firewall services.

 

win 11 computer cannot connect to server host computer's shared printer, also win 11.

I gave up for a while and today retried a simple step, again. Found the shared printer on Windows 11 Host on the network from the client. Did a simple manual connection by browsing to the printer and received this error message error 0X00004cf. Does this indicate some kind of permission is needed somewhere? I found on the Internet all sorts of suggestions but they were from 2021, which is some time ago. What do you think? If so where do I look?

 

Suddenly can't share a printer anymore

Yeah , the XP machine was the one that hosted this same printer , but then it got updated via Win7 when it was connecting to a shared printer , but the main drivers weren't running since it had no more printer connected. ( i remember i disabled services , or maybe not )

The image is when I click APPLY , the printer is NOT shared , it cannot be shared , that TICKED box Share This Printer is ticked before clicking APPLY , it was not there , althought i don't have idea because nobody messed around software-wise , just as i said , happend throught the "night" , so when I click apply, thoe error shows up and I can'r share it , it untciks everything.



That was me making the thread , was on the other's pc (printer host) at the time , but anywhere else talking except here , that won't be me.
