Windows 10: I get half internet speed on my new PC

    I get half internet speed on my new PC


    I bought and iBUYPOWER pc (BB902) , and when test my internet speed and i get 40 mb, when my internet connection in all my other devices is 100 mb and the modem is really close to my PC
    I use this realtek rtl8811au wireless lan 802.11ac usb 2.0 network adapter and i installed the lastest driver.

    Anybody Needs Help! WLAN Connectivity Of N95 To A Wired LAN or DSL

    my PC is connected with PTCL's 512K internet link... PC is surfing the internet with gr8 speed... bt on N95 speed is slow I get half internet speed on my new PC :(

    i want to get the same speed as i m getting on my PC.

    Extremely slow speeds on wi-fi (win10)

    I'm having a lot of problems with win10 lately... Now my speed connection sucks! I can get more than 3mbps on Wi-Fi.

    1- Checked router- OK

    2- Internet speed on iPhone: 305mbps

    3- Internet speed on iPad: 298mbps

    4- Internet speed on PC (hotwire): 395mbps

    5- Internet speed on PC (Wi-Fi): 3mbps

    First device manager said I had the latest driver for my network adapter - Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 - wrong!!

    I found a newer version and reinstalled the hardware with the new driver (8/1/2017) but speed is still slow as my old dial-up.

    Any advices out there?

    Your internet speed is determined by your broadband provider and 40Mb would be typical of a system where you have fibre to the cabinet near your home and then copper wires from the cabinet to your house. So this sounds correct unless you are expecting a much faster download speed such as you can get with fibre to the house.

    The internal speeds of the wireless connections within your home are typically much higher as you have observed but at the end of the day the bottleneck is always the speed from your provider.

    On my older PC i was getting the full 100 mb and it was on the same place where my new one is right now, i dont get what your saying i think is something wrong with the pc or i need to upgrade a part.

    That adapter seems to have problems on Windows 8.1 as well, but on 7 it works just fine.
    There is not much you can do, try to change channels and disable some unused network protocols.

    Sorry Robertoesquer, I was confused by your use of the term "test my internet speed" which I interpreted as the download speed from your internet service provider. Now I understand you mean the connection speed which is established between the router and the wireless card in your PC This will depend on the strength of the signal and whether there is any interference from other electrical devices situated nearby that could emit radio interference. Bottom line is that these tiny USB devices are not very good at capturing the signal and you are better off with a wireless network card with antenna.

    Better still, if the PC is close use a wired Ethernet connection for the most reliable and robust connection.
