I get popups on my screen, edge is my only browser, and popups are already blocked. What can I do? this started 6 weeks ago, my computer and os are 3 years old.Win 10/ Lenovo laptop

Fake Virus Alert Popups with Edge browser

Check that the tab it starts with is unpinned. When that site opens click the lock icon in address bar and block notifications. Just some suggestions.

I would give the other 3 options mentioned in the first guide:

• STEP 3: Use HitmanPro to scan for malware and unwanted programs
• (Optional) STEP 4: Reset the browser settings to their original defaults
• (Optional) STEP 5: Double-check for malicious programs with Zemana AntiMalware

Media Downloader popup blocks Edge

When I open Edge and popup advises "current media software is out of date and you must download critical new software". When hitting the download button I am directed to JAVA which then redirects me to "MediaDowloader" download. When trying to close
the screen another popup says "stayon site" or "exit ". When hitting the exit button the same screen stays. I am blocked from exiting the page. I have to activate Task Manager to close Edge.
