Errors related to Windows Script Host in Windows 10

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft Community and we regret for the inconvenience. Let me assist you.

I suspect that the issue is due to virus/malware infection. But not all types of script host errors are related to malware or virus infection on a computer.

There are programs that require running a script but if the error is related to user permissions, an error message will be displayed saying that it could not run the script.

In some cases, if the computer has been configured to run a script file that does not exist anymore, a WSH error message will be displayed saying the system cannot locate the resource specified.

Now, to be able to understand the issue better, provide us a few more details on the below questions.

• Is it an error message during Windows Startup or if this error does not allow Windows to boot properly to the desktop?
• Did you make any recent software/registry changes to the computer?
• Did you see any other functionality issues before this one came up? Or was it an abrupt event?
• What is the default antivirus/firewall software installed in your computer?

Since we are unaware if you are able to access the desktop environment properly, so I suggest you to boot the computer in safe mode with networking, and check if the issue still persist.

Safe Mode With Networking:

Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words
Safe Mode appear in the corners of your monitor to identify which Windows mode you're using. Please follow the steps outlined in the below article.

Once this is done, reboot the computer in normal mode and check.

If the issue does not occur in Safe mode and it normally starts, try to place the computer in a Clean Boot state and check if there are any third party application/software to be causing the issue.

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts in Windows.
