Windows 10: I got a laptop from an individual at a sale and couldn’t get into it because of bitlocker....

I went to the people who had the sale requesting the bitlocker recovery key and they had no idea what I was talking about. I need help to get in this computer.

oh I'm not interesting in any of the items personally, I was just suggesting listing starting prices on each individual item, in my experience I've found that it is more welcoming to interested parties if they see a starting price

Try this:

Before you get to that message, press SHIFT + F10 to open a command prompt.

Run diskpart.
At the diskpart prompt, run these commands:

list disk

At this point you should see the SSD as disk 0. If it has another disk number, use that number rather than "0" in the next command.

select disk 0
clean
exit (to exit from diskpart)
exit (to exit from the command prompt)





That should clear the contents of the disk. The entire disk space should then show up in Windows setup as "Unallocated Space" as in the screenshot below.

 

Bitlocker Randomly Enabled

Hi,

On my personal Lenovo laptop, Bitlocker somehow randomly was enabled. I have not enabled it, and I followed the recovery steps without luck. It seems that it was enabled during an update. I logged into my Microsoft account, see that the laptop is listed, but there is no bitlocker key listed. I am at a loss on what the next steps might be for me to be able to log into my computer at this point.
