I got what I think is a spam email with microsoft logo with link, from <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>

I wanted to report it online, I marked it as phishing scam, and deleted it , also sent it to my spam folder today, anyway I don't think it was really from Microsoft it has an these two links only inside the message.

theirs no text inside the message at all, just microsofts logo with these two web link I copy and pasted them here, it looks official but I don't think Microsoft sent these emails correct? I am guessing the web links are not safe at all, it seems a bit strange, so I am going to delete that email I got today in my outlook account.

the only thing I did today was get myself the Alf, Season 1 series on movies & tv app,but I don't think this other email is related to that at all. again I don't think this email was sent from Microsoft if so it may of been a error, it seems like a fake email not from them from the looks of it. in any case, I am going to delete that email I got. I did get the normal Your Microsoft order email when I got the Alf Season 1 series today, also on that note I seen that for some reason only season 1 is their , Movies and Tv app, doesn't show season 2 - 5 yet of the Alf series, I got it since I remember seeing this tv series growing up, it was a fun show to watch at that time.

True - although, more than a few emails would seem a little suspicous, rather than just a generated or "logged" email address.


As well - it's quite possible the email isn't coming directly from her account. Some email providers allow one to send email, but use a different "from" address (i.e. gmail) - for example, your primary email address is L: someone@someplace.com, when you send a message it would appear to come from L: someone@noplace.com . . .

It wouldn't surprise me, either, that if your sister had registered on a site, that they could be selling off email addresses - sometimes those really shady purchasers of these email lists will use some of these addresses to "mask" where the emails are actually coming from.

Follow the suggestions tha have already been posted, first - defi change the password. Run a good A/V program, and check your rig over for any other malware. Do a good manual cleaning of internet files, too, both cookies, temp files, and any other tripe that ends up in your temp folders. Anything that doesn't want to be deleted nice and easy tends to not bode well . . . if the issue still continues, she may have to give some serious thought to closing the account and picking up a new email provider elsewhere.

It's a PITA, for all involved.

On top of that, adding the sender's email address to the contacts list will whitelist it too.

Believe it or not, I've had TPU alerts and other legit emails I got regularly go into the Bulk folder. *Roll Eyes Whitelisting the address solved the problem permanently. On the whole, I find Yahoo's spam filter a little too aggressive sometimes and it needs to be calmed in this way.

Luckily, with my new mailbox, I can switch it off completely. The minute I start getting spam on it, the filter goes on. Or I create a new account.

You need to look at the “View installed Updates” screen to see the list of recently installed updates.
