I had a hard drive fail and had to remove it. How do I get rid of all the registry entries?

Had an 8Tb drive die. Replaced it, but now I am getting a few issues with installing some of the old programs. Turns out all those programs still have registry keys tied to that old drive letter. That drive letter no longer exists. I tried to use CCleaner to clean the registry but it isn't touching those old drive entries. Which you would think it would since the drive no longer exists. Any ideas? Thanks!

    :)

Windows Mobile 6.1 . I cannot remove Uninstalled Software from Apllication Uninstall list

This worked! This was the only place left that the offending entry seems to have existed which made it appear in the uninstall programs list. Thanks so much! After doing all the registry editing that was suggested in this thread, THIS WORKED! Of course,
one will want to delete the rogue registry entries as well, but this is the step necessary to remove it once and for all from the uninstall programs list. Thanks again!

  3. question about registry entries when wiping hard drives

I recently wiped (reformatted) my system hard drive and installed a new OS on it (from win 7 to 10). I have multiple hard drives with a lot of my 3rd party programs (games, utilities, tools etc) installed on secondary drives. Originally, I had just assumed
that I would have to reinstall most of those programs because their registry entries would have been wiped from the drive with the old OS... but everything seems to be working fine (so far) and I don't understand why. I realize some programs don't even bother
with registries these days but things still seem to be running too smoothly (at least on the surface). I'm not familiar enough with how registry entries are added (both on the fly and via installations) to know whether I'm missing something, or maybe win 10
is just a lot more adept at these sorts of things?

Can't get rid of a network entry in W10 navigation panel

    Hi Dee,

If you wish to remove/delete a network entry on Windows 10 navigation pane, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

    • Open a command prompt.
    • In the command prompt, type-in the command below and press Enter.

NOTE: Substitute Z: in the command below with the actual drive letter of the mapped network drive that you want to remove from your computer window.

      net use Z: /delete

    • When you're done, close the command prompt. The mapped network drive should now be removed from your Computer window.

We would appreciate it if you could get back to us and provide us your feedback.
