I had a problem with my audio driver or so iObit software claimed. The iObit software removal tool, said it needed to remove the problem files, it also said I could undone this at a later date, so I let the removal tool do its job. I continued watching youtube with no issues to sound quality. That was yesterday but today I have nothing. And I mean nothing, I pressed the windows button and X at the same time went into settings and Realtek Audio isn't where it's supposed t

  2. Audio Problems

Hi there SimonWildZX, I will be your Independent Advisor for today, I hope we can both resolve your problem.

May I suggest to completely uninstall all Audio drivers listed in the Device manager including the headset. Please make sure to completely remove.

Here is how to do it.

Here the steps to completely remove a Device off your computer.

Step 1. Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10.

    Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry Sound and Audio devices. Right-click the problematic device and select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You may need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device, and then click the Uninstall button.

    Step 5. Reboot the computer.

Repeat the steps in all the Audio devices listed.

Then reboot. then test the headset again.

  3. Why does driver update software disagree with device manager?

On a whim, I installed IObit's driver updater. to my surprise. Instead of blindly following its suggestions, I used the device manager to update the drivers. Yet some updates that IObit's software listed were not found by device manager. Why is this?

Problem installing the driver software for my audio device: 'IDT High Definition Audio CODEC' device problem

Thank you very much for your help. I did finally find the solution that worked for me.

I used solution #3 on this Windows help page. See below.

    Fix sound problems

    Try these steps ( ):

    • Open Start, enter Device Manager, and select it from the list of results. Under
Sound, video, and game controllers, select your sound card, open it, select the
Driver tab, and select Update Driver. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

    • If those steps didn't work, try uninstalling your audio driver: open Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) the audio driver, and select
Uninstall. Restart your device and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

    • If that didn't work, try using the generic audio driver that comes with Windows. Here's how: in
Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) your audio driver >
Update driver software... > Browse my computer for driver software
      > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, select
High Definition Audio Device, select Next, and follow the instructions to install it.
