Lumia 610 connecting to wifi but no internet access

You can try these troubleshooting steps:

    1. Move closer to a WLAN access point to get better WLAN signal.

    2. Check that you do not have MAC (Media Access Control) address
filtering on in the access point settings. If your WLAN network uses MAC address filtering for security. You will need to know the MAC address for your phone, and then add it to the access list for the network before you can connect. To find
the MAC address for your phone, do the following:

      • Press Start, then swipe left to the App list.
      • Select Settings > About > More info.
      • If there are many WLAN access points nearby, try to use a different wireless
channel in your WLAN access point.
    3. If you are using a public WLAN access point, it is possible that all
    IP addresses
are in use. Try to create a connection again later.

    4. On your Lumia phone, delete non functioning WLAN access point (internet connection) and connect it again:

  3. Illegal MAC address on 5800

I have just taken delivery of 2 Nokia 5800s, one form Orange and one from Three. The wifi network I will be connecting to most often controls connectivity via a list of approved MAC adresses (the access point is a cisco WAP4410N).

When entering the 5800 MAC addresses in the WAP4410N's configuration the phone from Orange presented no problem, but the one from Three resulted in an error "MAC address must be 12 Hex characters (0-9 and A-F) with optional delimiters I had cloned the MAC address to my laptop to the WIFI access point and now I can not... :) or -),
and the second bit is not a odd number".

It seems the MAC address of the Three supplied phone disobeys this rule. It's MAC address is EC:9B:5B:xx:xx:xx. The Orange supplied 5800 has a more standard address starting 00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx.

Calls to Three technical support were fruitless.

I could of course disable the wifi MAC connectivity control without compromising the security too much, but this would be a last resort.

    • What standards does Nokia use to assign MAC addresses?
    • Is there something special about MAC address assigning in relation to Three supplied phones?
    • Am I just unlucky? If I sent my phone back to Three for a replacement would the replacement possibly have a more "standard" MAC address?
    • Is there any way the MAC address can changed, spoofed etc.?

    Change Mac address

The MAC address is like your devices ID ,so short of being able to change very core settings ,you're not gonna be able to do anything unless I'm mistaken.

Maybe you don't need to change your MAC address, what is it you're trying to accomplish?

Spoiler: I found this change mac w/o root I can't say whether or not this is an effective method it's just a method I found after searching this topic .
I cant say whether or not it is "safe" or if the software required is free. use at your own risk.

Change MAC Address of Android Devices without Root Access

Go to Settings>About Phone>Select Status and then make a note of the current MAC Address of your Android device.
Download the Android Terminal Emulator application from the Google Play Store. You can directly navigate to the Android Terminal Emulator Google Play Store download page by clicking here.
Launch the above application on your Android device and then type “IP LINK SHOW”.
Note the interface name of your Android device from the list.
And then type in the command below,
    ip link set interfacename XX:XX:XX:YY:YY:YY
Replace interfacename with the Interface Name of your network that you noted in Step 4 above and XX:XX:XX:YY:YY:YY with the MAC Address you wish to set.
And that’s it. The MAC Address of your Android device will now be modified/changed.
