(apologies if it’s the wrong flair) i understand the concept of OneDrive is to sync your files across all your devices, and backup your files or whatever bullsht. BUT WHY DO I NEED IT TO MAKE A F****G POWERPOINT. maybe i’m just stupid and there’s a way to do it without pirating, but i am so close to just pirating MS office.

context as to why i’m writing and my frustrations: tonight, i ATTEMPTED to make a powerpoint, envisioning a project startup for the upcoming school year. hopped on my PC, and booted it up thinking i’m gonna be smooth sailing and load up microsoft 365 for the first time on this computer. i get an ad to purchase a monthly subscription of microsoft 365, i’m not spending money tonight on microsoft of all services so no biggie, i exit out the ad. i go to install apps button. a message appears,

“Go premium with Microsoft 365 to install the latest premium apps on your PC or Mac.” me: ‘seriously?, f**k it, i’ll just get started on the layout for the presentation online and i’ll work on it at the library or whatever.’

i log in to microsoft 365 online, expecting to again, be able to accomplish what i need to do. yet again, my plan foils. i go to create a presentation. “Your Storage is full, free up your space here” (it said something along the lines of that but it had a hyperlink to onedrive) me: ‘you gotta be kidding me.’

i open one drive and start exploring, it’s literally just my entire pictures tab from my files taking up space. again, no biggie right? i delete stupid pictures i have there, dont need em anyway. however, i have a folder full of pictures and videos from a previous school event, i need those pictures and videos to complete a important personal/school project, without those pictures and videos i’m screwed. obviously i don’t delete that file, however i dont pay attention to the gigabyte count, which the free plan for the storage limit is 5 GB which probably many of you already know. but 5 f****g GB is absolutely atrocious when that single file is 5 GB, and i have a 1TB SSD. i go back to PPT online to create a presentation, same error message, go back to one drive to find the storage space hasn’t budged. me: ‘what?’ i find that i have to remove the very important folder to be able to make a powerpoint. at this point im about to lose my shit. its 2 AM, and i have over 800 photo to go through to either keep or delete for another project. so im backed into a corner, either pay $6.99 a month, which i cannot pay, or leave with no presentation, which then it hits me, what if i just delete the folder from one drive, i still have the hard copy on my SSD, no biggie…….. right? (that was the last no biggie of the night.) turns out, if i delete the folder from one drive, it’ll wipe it from my system completely, leaving me no options, i turned off my computer upset and sleep deprived, and eating cashews while exploring options for a MacBook. but if anybody knows a way around this, let me know, i really don’t wanna sell my set up for a MacBook, which is bound to happen eventually since im transition to a professional set up.

  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

    Windows 10 - OneDrive

[/quote] Click to expand... Sorry, but I think you're confused and keep referring to Onedrive. There is a big difference between the consumer version of Onedrive business O365 version. I do not have the consumer version of Onedrive installed... it is Onedrive for Business. Also, this script is for "Onedrive" .... not Onedrive for Business. Thanks anyway.

OneDrive (for Business) built-in Windows 10 differences?

No thanks for providing a non-rant version. I ought to recruit about 20 million people and walk down to Microsoft headquarters and do them in. Tired of Microsoft forcing their childish development skills on the masses.

  4. I HATE GREEDY MICROSOFT & ONEDRIVE!!

Is it Normal to Hate Microsoft Windows?

I started getting the hang of OneNote. I love what it is about. I have short list softwares I need added to my laptop from work. In OneNote, I wanted the list to be formatted in a manner different from the UniFormat provided in OneNote for text. So I thought I would format the text in Word, print to PDF, thenj insert the PDF into OneNote. Remember the list is short. To place the short list how I want it in OneNote, 11-inch virtual paper yields a huge block under the list of unused "white space"* So back to Word I go, set the paper size at 8.5 x 5. Print to pdf, insert to OneNote, and the text is sideways now, because the people smarter than us at Microsoft are able to figure out that 8.5x5 is supposed to be sideways, but I wanted it not sideways. So next i am in UniSearch (combining all the searh engines of the world, and I am soon reading an excellent explanation by Omer Atay, Principal Software Engineering Manager on the OneNote team at Microsoft, telling the tail of how this is a known problem but since life is life they have not fixed it yet, but he had a very practical-sounding suggestion, that turned out to be one of the lies Microsoft always tells. Microsoft's favorite kind of lie is the easy way everything works, except it never works the way they describe it. In this case, here was Omer's gracious suggestion, he was so generous to share with little people. And I quote: One suggestion I can give is, instead of using Insert > File Printout, open the file first and then use Print command in the application (e.g. Adobe) and choose your orientation there. This will do the same insertion, but with the correct orientation. Sounds easy. Now try it. Microsoft answer always are like escher bach paintings with impossible stairs and other optical illusions. His suggestion is the same as the procedure he says he is offering a replacement for. It's like, "yeah, adding 5 and six is a challenge when you need the result to be 15 instead of 11. So what you do is add five and six to get your 15. Bye Everybody, I just wanted to give you a tip!" Finally, the kicker. How did ding dong come to think he was making a constructive suggestion? Oh I know, he never tried it himself. He heard it in a meeting. I hate Microsoft.
