Windows 10: I have 16GB of DDR3 RAM why does the PC only EVER use a tiny fraction of that?

I have 16 GB of DDR3 RAM and I have the Virtual Memory menu set to automatically manage the paging file size for all of my drives, however every time I go in there to check it is always using the same amount.It says the Total paging file size for all drives is:Minimum allowed: 16 MB Recommended: 1,300 MB Currently allocated: 6,375 MBWhy is it always only using this much? I mean I know that with what I use my computer for it rarely gets above 12GB but why is it using such a small amount and the exact amount every time it seems like. I'm assuming I don't need to touch it but would

Upgrading RAM to 12GB or 16GB?

Hi everyone:

I have this machine:

Intel DB75EN...........it has 8GB of DDR3 RAM..... it's an older i5-2400 at 3ghz.

I acidentally (nice) discovered there's still a chance to improve RAM...I can't buy or afford a newer PC.

Amazon has Crucial DDR3 and they fit my machine in the specs checker they have.

I recently added an Crucial SSD and have Windows 10 installed there. It boots better and folders open faster than the HDD.

However, apps aren't faster at all. Just Windows.

The machine has 2 sticks of 4GB installed which make the 8GB. Going from 8GB to 12GB........will it make a difference?

Or it's better to go to 16GB?.

If I could I would to go to 32GB.......the machine specs says it supports up to 32GB RAM (however I can't afford it), since they're DDR3, they are older and are NOT cheap. I can only afford up to 16GB.

Should I make the effort to get 16GB or will 12GB be good?

Suggestions for 16GB DDR3 RAM for this mobo

The mainboard is ASUSTek's M4N98TD EVO, which is also the one that will support the Thuban 6-core CPUs with BIOS update v.0603. The thing is - this beast supports DDR3 2000 (OC) RAM as the info page says+i think it supports either AMD BlackEdition or SLI-Ready RAM. Going over BE or SLI-Ready RAM is also another issue, but most important thing for me is any good DDR3 1600 RAM banks, prefferably in 4x4GB configuration. Why so ? For Vista 64-bit SP2 among other things, but 1st of all cause i think to myself - why not, since this mobo supports upto 16GB of DDR3 RAM. Currently googled for such info & only found out info bout either 24GB of DDR3 RAM or 16GB of DDR3 RAM courtsey of Corsair, Dominator series. The prob is 24GB support X58 Intel's chipset, while 16GB support P55. Putting Intel memory with AMD CPU & mobo is probably not advised. *Laugh :laugh:

I could've use 2x4GB DDR3 RAM with CAS7 or 8 1600MHz instead, but the prob is there's no such thing listed anywhere on web no matter how hard i looked for it. I'm not person who loves to repeat, but - there's still time for it, right now i just asking. The actual purchase will only occur in 1st or 2nd half of August, atmost in beginning of September. There's still s***load of time. *Smile
