Windows 10: I have 2 Laptops registered with the same Microsoft account and I am unable to get the...

So I purchased a new Laptop and registered it on the same Microsoft account. I need the Bit locker key for the older Laptop but when I try to retrieve it online, it takes me the recovery key to the new Laptop. The Laptop names are same for both but the Laptop models are different. I was initially confused why my bit locker keys isn't working but realized later that it keeps connecting to the new Laptop and hence the key does not work. Any resolution will be appreciated.

How do I register my PC with my Microsoft account?
But when I'm done, I'd like to use my local account each time to log in.
Please tell me how to do that.
I am very new at Win 10, and need step by step instructions.

Just simply log in with your Microsoft Account.
Switch to Microsoft Account in Windows 10

Just go back to using a local account:
Switch to Local Account in Windows 10

Yes, you can use the Microsoft account to register your lost laptop device, even if you did not create a Microsoft account when you bought the laptop in 2020. You can use the S/N (serial number) and model number to register with the new Microsoft account that you created.

Here are the steps on how to register your lost laptop device with a Microsoft account using the S/N and model number:

• Go to the Microsoft account | Devices website and sign in to your account.
  
• Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner and select “View Microsoft account.”
  
• Click on the “Devices” tab.
  
• Click on the “Register a new device” button.
  
• Select “Laptop” as the device type.
  
• Enter the S/N and model number of your lost laptop.
  
• Click on the “Register” button.
  

Once you have registered your lost laptop device with your Microsoft account, you can use the “Find my device” feature to try to locate it.





Here are the steps on how to use the “Find my device” feature:

• Go to the Microsoft Account website and sign in to your account.
  
• Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner and select “View Microsoft account.”
  
• Click on the “Devices” tab.
  
• Find your lost laptop device in the list of devices and click on it.
  
• Click on the “Find my device” button.
  

If your lost laptop device is turned on and connected to the internet, the “Find my device” feature will show you its location on a map. You can also use the feature to remotely lock or wipe your device.

Note:

• If you are unable to find your lost laptop device using the “Find my device” feature, you can contact Asus customer support for assistance.
  
• You can also file a police report about your lost laptop device.
